Michael, of Jewish tradition, and Arshia, with non-religious Persian roots, dreamed of a ceremony that was a true reflection of their history and a tribute to their family legacies.
Their desire was clear: to integrate Jewish spirituality with Persian cultural elements into a fluid, authentic, and symbolic wedding ritual. As the officiant, it was an immense pleasure to co-create this script with Tom, the bride’s uncle, who brought admirable warmth, officiating in English and Farsi. Together, we wove an act where both rich traditions coexisted in total harmony.
Under the Chuppah and Before the Sofreh Aghd: Visual Fusion
The setting could not have been more idyllic for this destination wedding: the Santa Clotilde Gardens, with their sea views, classical statues, and lush Mediterranean vegetation.
The ceremony took place under a Chuppah (wedding canopy) covered in pastel flowers, but with a unique element at its base: an exquisite Sofreh Aghd table, the traditional Persian wedding altar.
This ceremonial table, with its fruits, nuts, sweets, mirrors, and candles, symbolized prosperity, fertility, and sweetness. Its integration with the Jewish ambiance of the Chuppah served as the perfect visual and cultural meeting point for this Jewish-Persian wedding.
