MARIA & ALEX: EMOTIVE ECUMENICAL WEDDING.
A touching spiritual experience where the love is the energy of the union.
We have tried to make an emotive ecumenical Jewish-Christian wedding fed by the ancestral customs of Judaism and Christianity, taking the most representative of both religions in their way of performing the wedding liturgy, respecting the sensibilities of each of the families and always doing the illusions of the bride and groom prevail.
Therefore, we found a way to use the customs of both religions at the wedding, so that it was as inclusive as possible for the respective families, Jewish and Christian; since it would be the day, not only for the couple, but also for their parents and their families.
It has been the marriage of two people who profess different religions, therefore the Jewish–Christian ecumenical wedding had to reflect this reality.
The cumenical wedding ceremony
The plan for the suscess this emotional ecumenical Jewish–Christian wedding, was join, combine and add.
We select readings, customs, prayers and blessings from both ancestral traditions. We include in the wedding readings of the Song of Songs, of the Gospel, blessing of the wedding rings; and from the Jewish tradition, the blessings of Erusin and Nissuín, the two glasses of wine and the final breakage of the crystal cup.
Both Judaism and Christianity understand marriage as a sacred union, based on love, respect, protection and a is symbol of God’s bond with his people.
It has been really a big pleasure and a great honor to share the experience of this emotional ecumenical Jewish–Christian wedding with the priest Javier, Jesuit; who is also an anthropologist, theologian and excellent writer.
Certainly, I loved his way of performing this emotional ecumenical wedding, reflecting, with his presence and with his words, emotion, peace and spirituality.
