Jewish Elopement in Portugal.

We celebrated an intimate Jewish wedding of a loving couple, Lauren and Paul, in Cascais, near Lisboa, in Portugal.

What is an intimate Jewish wedding like?

Jewish elopement weddings are intimate events that allow couples to exchange their vows and become married without the fuss and extravagance of a traditional wedding ceremony.

Here’s a brief rundown of how a typical elopement wedding ceremony could look like:

Decide on the location – Elopement weddings can take place anywhere, from a beach, a mountain top, or a city park.

Choose your witnesses – You will need at least two witnesses to sign your Ketubbah, but often couples who choose an elopement wedding prefer the ceremony to be small and intimate, so they may choose to bring just one or two close friends or family members.

The photographer or wedding planner can also act as a witness at the same time.

Hire an officiant – An officiant will perform the ceremony of your dreams.

He will also make sure that you have all the necessary elements for the Jewish wedding.

The officiant can also help you write your vows. You can choose a rabbi or a chazan.

Vows

Write your vows – Your vows are an important part of the ceremony and should reflect your love, commitment and promises to each other.

Dress for the occasion – Jewish Elopement weddings can be as formal or as casual as you like, so you can wear anything that makes you feel comfortable and beautiful.

Exchange your vows – This is the main event, and it’s the moment when you’ll make your promises to each other and exchange rings.

Sign the Ketubbah – Your witnesses and officiant will also sign the ketubah.

Receive the blessings.

Enjoy the blessings sung by the chazan, just for the two of you.

Break the glass

Celebrate your love – After the ceremony, you can celebrate with a special dinner, a champagne toast, or any other activities that you both enjoy.

Jewish elopement weddings can be a beautiful, meaningful, and romantic way to get married, and they allow you to focus on what’s most important: your love for each other.

Cascais – Portugal

The Jewish elopement wedding was held in Cascais, on a cliff facing the immense and beautiful sea.

Cascais is a picturesque coastal town located in the western part of Portugal, just 30 minutes from Lisbon.

With its stunning beaches, historic landmarks, and cultural heritage, Cascais is a popular tourist destination for those looking for a laid-back, yet vibrant experience.

Beaches

One of the main attractions of Cascais is its stunning beaches.

Praia da Ribeira is a popular spot for swimming and sunbathing, while Praia da Conceição is a more secluded spot perfect for a romantic getaway.

The beaches in Cascais are also great for water sports such as surfing, kite surfing and windsurfing.

Historic center

Another highlight of Cascais is its historic center, which has been beautifully preserved over the years.

The town’s cobbled streets, traditional architecture, and charming cafes and restaurants make it a perfect place to explore and soak up the local atmosphere.

Visitors can visit the Boca do Inferno (Hell’s Mouth), a dramatic rock formation carved out by the sea, or the Cascais Citadel, a fortified castle built in the 16th century.

Cultural heritage

The cultural heritage of Cascais is also a major draw for tourists.

Also, the town is home to several museums and art galleries, including the Museum of the Sea, which showcases the town’s maritime history and the art of local artists.

The Cascais Cultural Center is another popular attraction, hosting events, exhibitions, and concerts throughout the year.

Outdoor activities

For those interested in outdoor activities, Cascais offers plenty of opportunities for hiking and cycling.

The Serra de Sintra Natural Park is a great place to explore, with its stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the Atlantic Ocean.

The park is also home to several historic landmarks, including the Palácio da Pena and the Castelo dos Mouros.

Gastronomy

In terms of dining, Cascais offers a variety of options, from traditional Portuguese cuisine to more international fare.

Fresh seafood is a specialty in the town, and visitors can try dishes such as grilled sardines, octopus stew, and clam chowder.

The local bars and cafes are also a great place to relax and enjoy a drink or two after a long day of sightseeing.

In conclusion, Cascais is a charming and inviting coastal town that offers a little something for everyone.

With its stunning beaches, historic landmarks, cultural heritage, and lively atmosphere, visitors are sure to have a memorable time in this wonderful destination.
